News: de’sendent awarded a chef’s hat

We’re delighted to share the news that de’sendent has been awarded a highly coveted chef’s hat. As part of a move towards nationalising The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide, WA Today’s Good Food team has been awarding hats to deserving restaurants as part of a new weekly restaurant review system introduced in January, 2024. One of only five restaurants in Western Australia to be awarded the new chef’s hat at time of publishing, de’sendent was lauded as “a dinner booking worth dressing up and calling in babysitting favours for”. Restaurant reviewer Max Veenhuyzen praises Chef Evan Hayter’s “commitment to championing and celebrating the Margaret River region” and describes his style of cooking as “helping unlikely ingredients form unlikely bonds”.
